Verse 1
Campus lights burn at 2 AM Kids with laptops out chanting again "Eat the rich" from dorm rooms with AC on While the line at the pantry wraps around the gate Mom works the double at the warehouse dock Comes home to a notice on the door again The ones who talk the loudest never miss a meal The ones who pay the tab don't get the deal They post the slogan with the filter on The trust fund covers every late night run The single shift worker counts the hours left The chant don't reach the corner where the rent gets pressed
Chorus
Luxury red is the desired state They wave the red flag but the fridge stay gape Luxury red is the desired state The slogan echoes but the rent don't break Luxury red is the desired state They got the degrees but the story stays slate Luxury red is the desired state The cost lands on the ones who never get a plate
Verse 2
Politician from the big house on the hill Says we all equal from his private spills Wore the uniform of the cause for the crowd But the mansion gate stays locked and the press ain't loud The history class skipped the part where it broke The shelves went bare and the people lost hope Now the new wave says this time it's different But the math don't change when the power different They fly the banner from the penthouse view The working family wonders who they promise to The campus echo meets the factory gate The ones who live it never get the update
Bridge
I saw the sign on the corner store glass "Closed for good" where the corner used to laugh The kids chant from the quad with the WiFi While the single mom counts coins for the bus ride The belief costs nothing when your fridge stays full The power cuts off in the room when the bill comes due
Chorus
Luxury red is the desired state They wave the red flag but the fridge stay gape Luxury red is the desired state The slogan echoes but the rent don't break Luxury red is the desired state They got the degrees but the story stays slate Luxury red is the desired state The cost lands on the ones who never get a plate
