Intro
Bin six closes at dawn. No street is wrong. No name is gone. The red stamp reads: address valid, courage insufficient.
Verse 1
One blue note says, "Dad, I made you pay for all the ways I feared I'd be your way." It knows his chair, the salt beside his plate, the call that rang twice, then one day too late. "Send me. He may curse. He may just nod. A shut door hurts less than a sealed box." Fear turns the clock face down against the wall. "A sick man should not have to bear it all."
Chorus
Dead Letter Office, last call. Return to sender, the words weighed too much. Seal it even if the address is invalid sort it even if the courage is insufficient Let the red stamp talk. Dead letter office
Verse 2
A white page says, "I took your trust and hid. I said work ran late. You knew what I did. Send me. Let the house choose where I sleep. A clean cut beats a smile we cannot keep." Beside it, one child's card, sun drawn in gold: "I swear this time I'll come. Please leave a hold." Fear taps both files. "One home may split. One small hand may wait for what won't come."
Chorus
Dead Letter Office, last call. Return to sender, the words weighed too much. Seal it even if the address is invalid sort it even if the courage is insufficient Let the red stamp talk. Dead letter office
Verse 3
The plain brown one quits a job by noon: "You pay in praise, then take each weekend too. Send me. My chair can teach my back to rise." Fear says, "Rent does not take brave replies." The prayer has no stamp, just grease from a thumb: "I knew Your name. I chose not to come. If You hear me, meet me where I am." Fear asks, "What if no voice answers back?"
Bridge
Clerk Fear clears his throat. "You call me thief. I call myself one more night. Some words save. Some set the last bridge alight. I keep one spark from choosing your whole life."
Verse 4
The last one bears the clerk's own hand: "To me, for all I did and failed to mend. I forgive the man who froze at each red door. Send this one. I can't drag him anymore." Fear holds it close. "A pardon can be cheap. If guilt lets go, who pays for what you keep?" The page says, "If shame is all I own, I make a cell and call that paying what I owe."
Chorus
Dead Letter Office, last call. Return to sender, the words weighed too much. Seal it even if the address is invalid sort it even if the courage is insufficient Let the red stamp talk. Dead letter office
Verse 5
At dawn the furnace coughs; no flame comes through. The bin rolls out. Each seal looks clean and new. No ash, no smoke, no shred lies on the tile. The route clerk turns each piece one final time. The sender line and Fear's hand match in ink. Six homes wait past the edge of one small blink. He stamps them back, then leaves the gate unlatched. No one can tell if that is mercy or a trap.
Chorus
Dead Letter Office, last call. Return to sender, the words weighed too much. Seal it, sort it, let the red stamp talk.
